DTDC Courier Tracking

Enter your consignment number in the box above to start DTDC courier tracking and see exactly where your parcel is right now. This page also explains what every DTDC status message means, how long each route usually takes, and what to do when a parcel stops moving.

Track Your DTDC Courier

Enter your DTDC tracking number or scan the barcode on your shipment receipt.

Enter the AWB or consignment number provided for your shipment.

This is an independent shipment tracking tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by DTDC Express Limited. Tracking updates depend on carrier and tracking-provider data.

Which number do you need for DTDC courier tracking?

Use the AWB number. It is one capital letter followed by 8 to 11 digits, for example D56850543 or W15757019. You will find it on your courier receipt or printed on the shipping label. If your number contains no letter at all, it is the seller’s reference number, not DTDC’s.

Most “tracking number not found” results come from typing the wrong number. DTDC calls its own number an AWB number, a consignment number, a docket number and a CN number in different places. All four mean the same thing. Sellers on Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho and Shopify usually show their own order reference instead.

What every DTDC courier tracking status means

DTDC shows short status words and never explains them. This table covers every status you are likely to see, in the order a normal parcel passes through them.

DeliveredHanded over, with a signature captured on the POD.—Only if you did not receive it

Set RTO explained

RTO means Return to Origin. Your parcel is being sent back to the sender. It happens when the address was incomplete, the phone number on the label did not connect, the executive visited and nobody was available, the receiver refused the parcel, or a cash on delivery amount was not paid.

Act the same day. Once the parcel physically leaves the destination branch, reversing an RTO becomes very difficult. Call the destination branch with your AWB number and ask them to hold it and reattempt. If you bought online, message the seller at the same time, because DTDC will often accept fresh instructions only from whoever booked the shipment.

Added to Bag explained

Your parcel has been placed inside a large sack alongside other parcels heading to the same region. It looks like nothing is happening. It actually means your parcel is about to travel a long distance, so it is a good sign rather than a delay.

In Transit explained

This is where most people get stuck. DTDC scans at hub handovers, so the same line can sit unchanged for three or four days while the parcel physically crosses the country. Silence is not the same as a lost parcel.

How long does DTDC take to deliver?

Most domestic express parcels take three to five working days. Metro to metro is fastest. Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities usually add a day. The northeast, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands take longest because fewer connecting routes serve them.

Three things decide your real delivery date, and distance is only one of them.

FactorWhy it mattersDays it can add
Service level paid forExpress Premium is day definite. Express Standard is not. Surface is far slower.1 to 5
Franchise partner on the last legPincodes served by a partner rather than a company branch add a handover.1
Booking dayA parcel accepted Saturday evening usually does not move until Monday.1 to 2
Festival seasonDiwali volumes slow the entire network, not just your route.2 to 4

Count working days from the Accepted scan, never from your order date. Sellers often take two or three days to hand a parcel over, and that gap is invisible on the tracking page.

City hubs and how your parcel is routed

DTDC runs a hub and spoke network from its Bengaluru headquarters, so your parcel almost never travels directly from sender to receiver. It passes through a regional sorting hub first. Knowing which hub serves you explains most of the delays people find confusing.

Hub cityRegion it servesCities routed through it
BengaluruKarnataka and much of south IndiaMysuru, Mangaluru, Hubli
Delhi NCRNorth India gatewayGurgaon, Noida, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Chandigarh

HyderabadTelangana and Andhra PradeshVijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Nellore, Guntur
KolkataEast India and the northeast gatewayGuwahati, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Ranchi
Nagpur, Indore, BhopalCentral IndiaSurrounding Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns

Parcels bound for Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland or Arunachal Pradesh almost always pass through Kolkata or Guwahati. This is the single most common leg for long silent gaps in DTDC courier tracking.

To find the exact branch handling your parcel, search your pincode in the Locate Us section on DTDC’s official website. The branch number is far more useful than the national helpline once your parcel shows At Destination.

Marketplace sellers almost always choose the cheapest option available, which is why a parcel from an online store often takes longer than one you booked yourself at a counter.

For international shipments, DTDC hands over to a partner carrier in the destination country. Once that happens, DTDC courier tracking often stops updating and the local carrier takes over. If your overseas parcel goes quiet after leaving India, that is normally the reason.

DTDC courier tracking not updating? Here is why

Check the Accepted scan date and count only working days. Most domestic parcels take three to five. If more than six working days have passed with no new scan, call the destination branch directly, because branch staff can see information the public website will not display for another day or two.

What you are seeingMost likely causeWhat to do

Delivered, but not receivedSigned by a neighbour, guard or receptionRequest the POD and check the name

One thing worth knowing: the seller is DTDC’s paying customer, not you. Sellers have an account manager and a direct escalation path. A complaint routed through the seller moves faster than one from the receiver, almost every time.

Cash on delivery parcels

COD parcels have their own failure mode. If the amount is not ready at the door, the executive marks the attempt as failed. Two or three failed attempts usually trigger an RTO.

Keep the exact amount in cash unless the seller has confirmed that UPI is accepted at delivery, because many DTDC franchise partners still operate cash only. If you missed a COD delivery, call the branch the same day and ask for a reattempt rather than waiting for the tracking page to update.

Fake delivery calls: what DTDC will never ask you

DTDC will never ask you to pay through OTP, UPI or a payment link to release a parcel.

There is a widespread scam in India. Someone searches for courier tracking, clicks a fake website or a paid advertisement, and then receives a call demanding a customs charge, a redelivery fee or a verification payment. The caller often knows genuine details about the parcel, which is exactly what makes the call convincing.

If you receive a call like this, hang up. Then call the branch number listed on DTDC’s own website. Never call back on a number the caller gives you, and never share an OTP with anyone claiming to be a delivery agent.

Lost or damaged parcel: how to claim

If DTDC courier tracking shows Delivered but nothing arrived, or the parcel arrived broken, you have a claim. Most people give up at the helpline stage, which is exactly why claims fail.

Start by fixing the evidence in place. Photograph the packaging before you open it if it looks tampered with. Save screenshots of every tracking screen, including the timestamps. Request the proof of delivery and read the signature name carefully, because a parcel signed for by a security guard or a neighbour is a delivery dispute rather than a loss.

Compensation on a normal domestic shipment is limited unless the sender declared the value and paid for risk coverage at booking. Sellers usually did not. This is why claims for expensive items almost always have to be settled by the seller under their own marketplace policy rather than by the courier.

Write everything down. A service query raised on DTDC’s website produces a ticket number, and that number is what turns a phone conversation into a record. Consumer forums in India do accept courier claims, but they want paper, not recollection.

If you ship with DTDC regularly

Sellers see a different side of DTDC courier tracking. Bulk shipments generate softdata uploads in batches, so a whole day’s consignments can appear stuck at the same status until the pickup scan clears them together. That is a reporting artefact, not a network problem.

Two habits reduce RTO rates more than anything else. Verify the phone number at checkout, because an unreachable number is the most common RTO trigger. And include a landmark in the address field, since delivery executives in Indian cities navigate by landmark far more than by pincode.

The DTDC network at a glance

DTDC Express Limited was founded in 1990 and is headquartered in Bengaluru. It was the first Indian courier company built on a franchise model rather than company owned branches, which is why DTDC counters appear in small neighbourhood markets that larger carriers do not reach.

DetailFigure
Founded1990
HeadquartersBengaluru, Karnataka
Network modelFranchise led, hub and spoke
Franchise partnersReported around 12,000
Pincodes served in IndiaReported over 11,000
International destinationsReported over 220

These figures come from third party industry reporting rather than DTDC’s own disclosures, and published counts vary between sources. Treat them as approximate.

Questions people ask about DTDC courier tracking

How many days does DTDC take to deliver?

Domestic express usually takes three to five working days. Metro to metro is faster. Remote pincodes and the northeast take longer. Surface and cargo take a week or more. Count from the Accepted scan, not your order date.

Why does my tracking number show as not found?

Three usual reasons. The seller made a label but has not handed the parcel over. You entered a reference number where an AWB number was needed, or the reverse. Or the number belongs to another courier. Wait 24 hours, then check the format table above.

What does Set RTO mean?

It means Return to Origin. Your parcel is going back to the sender, usually because of an address problem, an unreachable phone number, a failed attempt or an unpaid COD amount. Call the destination branch the same day.

What does Added to Bag mean?

Your parcel has been consolidated into a sack with others going to the same region. It normally appears just before a long distance leg, so it is a normal part of the journey rather than a delay.

Can I change my delivery address after booking?

Not through tracking. Call the destination branch before the parcel goes out for delivery. A change within the same pincode is usually possible. A change to another city usually is not.

How do I get proof of delivery?

DTDC provides POD downloads through its customer login portal. If you were the receiver rather than the sender, ask the seller to download it, or request it from the destination branch using your AWB number.

Does DTDC deliver on Sundays?

Usually not for standard services. A small number of city branches run limited Sunday operations. Do not count Sundays or public holidays when estimating your delivery date.

Can I track a parcel using only my mobile number?

No. DTDC courier tracking needs an AWB number or a reference number. If both are lost, the sender can retrieve the AWB from their booking receipt or their DTDC account.
